These patterns work terrifically with florals, Westerns, geometrics, and other fabric themes as well.

The Gutzy Geisha Designs kaleidoscoping technique creates mesmerizing circular, rectangular, and square blocks. Cutting and sewing is fast and simple, fabric waste is minimal, and results are stunning.

The Gun sen, or War Fan, is an article of beauty and function. Used by high-ranking Samurai to decisively signal movements or fighting men, the Gun sen was made of metal and could be used as a defensive weapon to ward off arrows and stones. The fan of a Samurai could also bestow honors on those who fought with valor. #656

Originally two outside pieces of slik enclosed the chain mail core of this article of armor, protecting the belly of the Samurai from assault. The haramaki proved invaluable on the battlefield. #657

Shinobi

Shinobi were Japanese warriors greatly prized for their stealthy ability as undercover spies in warfare but capable of springing into attack at an instant. Later they were called ninja. Our Shinobi, using highly contrasting fabrics, mimics the shinobi tradition as it appears to jump out at the unsuspecting viewer. #GG614

Ninjas, warriors known for their stealthy sruprise and attack skills, were the descendents of the Shinobi. Young ninja warriors in training practiced on each other to perfect their skills before heading to war. here four ninjas circle each other, plotting an attack onthe one in front while keeping a fixed eye on the ninja behind. #GG615

Koi are found in ponds in many Japanese gardens and are said to elicit feelings of tranquility. Hidden in this design are four koi fishswimming among the beautiful kaleidoscoping blocks.


A beautiful lady in the etheral world of a Japanese garden is in the center of this quilt surrounded with swirling blossoms. Any large-scale print can be substituted in the center to create a showplace for those fabrics that need to be center stage.

Haiku

Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. In addition to being fierce warriors, Samurai were schooled in the fine arts. Many Samuari composed tender and touching poems. This three-piece art ensemble creates an abstract kimono and is fractured by the fabric lines in the side panels as beautifully as any Haiku poem.

Samurai warriors wore ornate helmets for protection. Happuri means "head and cheek cover" in Japanese. If you look closely there are four Happuri-shaped blocks in the corners of this dazzling quilt.




Ikebana

In the tradition of Japanese flower arranging, called Ikebana, this quilt will leave you breathless with center on point, framed with split blocks and swirling blossoms. The extraordinary shape adds elegance with the fine, clean lines in the two outer borders.


In Japanese, Kaginawa means "hooked rope." A tool of the Samurai, the hemp rope with a grappling hook attached was primarily used to climb over high walls, secure boats, or hang up armor while in camp. Our Kaginawa design deatures kaleidoscoping blocks in circle, helmet, and hook shapes that will serve the function of beautifying your home.



Kendo

Kendo is the Japanese martial art of the swordsman and is taught throughout the world. The centerpiece of this three-piece ensemble begins with an abstract shape and six circular blocks mimicking the artistry of expertly trained kendo swordsmen. A unique, quilted piece that is stunning on a table. Add the two side panels for an exceptional grouping of wall art.






A sashimono, or small banner bearing a family name or a type of heraldry, often accompanied the Samurai on their journeys. Our banner proclaims the beauty of kaleidoscoping circular blocks and is designed as wall art.





Shogun

A Samurai who attained this highest honor was undoubtedly the most powerful an respected warrior and leader in all of Japan. This design certainly deserves the name Shogun. With its simplistic yet stunning style and appealing shape, it is definitely a "commander in chief" in the Gutzy Geisha Designs pattern line.
