Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. In addition to being fierce warriors, Samurai were schooled in the fine arts. Many Samuari composed tender and touching poems. This three-piece art ensemble creates an abstract kimono and is fractured by the fabric lines in the side panels as beautifully as any Haiku poem. |
Samurai warriors wore ornate helmets for protection. Happuri means "head and cheek cover" in Japanese. If you look closely there are four Happuri-shaped blocks in the corners of this dazzling quilt. |
